Oxidized bitumen 90/15 is a blown bitumen produced by passing controlled air through hot conventional bitumen in a blowing still. This oxidation process increases the bitumen molecular weight and creates a three-dimensional cross-linked structure, resulting in significantly higher softening point, lower penetration, and superior thermal stability compared to straight-run bitumen.

The designation 90/15 refers to a softening point of approximately 85-95 degrees Celsius and penetration at 25 degrees Celsius between 15-20 units (0.1mm). This hard, high-melting-point characteristic makes oxidized bitumen 90/15 ideal for industrial applications where resistance to elevated temperatures and mechanical stress is essential.
