This air-blowing process modifies the bitumen chemistry, increasing its molecular weight and creating a harder, more durable material with a significantly higher softening point compared to conventional bitumen.

The designation 115/15 refers to the minimum softening point of 115 degrees Celsius and maximum penetration of 15 at 25 degrees Celsius (1/10 mm).
